Lower Campbell Lake is a very large man made lake. This lake has many points of access and many campgrounds. If you added up the number of sites available for camping on this lake, it would probably be in the thousands. There are at least 9 well maintained campgrounds with boat launches. Some of these sites are top of the line like loveland bay and the miller creek site. Others offer great fishing and or safe swimming. All are beautiful. The scenery that you see around this lake rivals any place on earth.

The fishing is good year round and there are some big fish here. I have caught fish of the 2 to 3 kg size and have heard of some even bigger caught on the troll. You can fish this lake from a boat, canoe, kayak or the shore. It all works well. Every big fish that I caught from this lake was fished from the shore. One time during a very cold winter in the early 70s, I iced fished this lake with great results. This lake contains rainbow, cutthroat and dolly varden trout.

There is an abundance of wildlife here, i have seen bears, cougars, elk, deer, wolves and many of the smaller forest creatures around this lake. The bird life is also quite impressive as is the bounty of wildflowers that bloom all summer long. This is a premier lake by all standards.

Some friends and i, when we were young, would put in canoes just below Myra falls on buttle lake, then over the next week, we would canoe from there to the John Hart Dam, after portaging past the upper campbell dam, we would take our time going down the lower campbell, fishing every bay, this fishing was always awesome.
