Spider lake features a clean sandy beach perfect for water activities on a summer day. The lake is noted for its excellent canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. Paddlers can have a quiet day exploring the shoreline and the many secluded nooks and bays of this lake. You can find this lake close to horne lake.
You can fish year-round on this lake but powerboats are prohibited on spider lake, although rowboats, canoes, and kayaks are easily launched from the beach next to the small parking lot. You can go over to the picnic day-use area, just a bit further down the road and launch your watercraft there as well. The day-use area has many picnic tables, washrooms and beach areas for the kids. It is open for use from May until October. The smaller site back down the road is open year-round.
Spider lake is good for freshwater scuba diving. The water is crystal clear and full of life.
This is an extremely popular destination and all pets must be on a leash and under control at all times. You are responsible for their behavior and must remove their droppings.
The lake has many arms plus a series of islands that offer many places to try your luck at fishing. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout that average around 30 to 40 cm but commonly reach 1.5 kg and there are good numbers of smallmouth bass that offer an alternative fishery when the lake warms with summer.
There are some nice trails here and plenty of small animals and birds for your camera. You could see raccoons, pine martins and squirrels here along with lots of songbirds and waterfowl. Maybe, if you are lucky, you could even see a black bear here.
