Fuller Lake Park is a great place for swimming, fishing canoeing, kayaking and boating (electric motors only). The park is located just outside Chemainus on south Vancouver Island. The park has an incredible beach area, lots of space for picnics, a well-built fishing pier, boat ramp, and full washroom facilities.
Fuller lake park is a day-use park only. From the parking area, you walk down a grassy clearing to beautiful small sandy and pebbled beach that warms up nicely in the summer sun. There are many tall trees providing shade on those hot summer days and there are sunny spots to warm up after a great swim. On hot days, this park can get quite busy, so arrive early for the best spots.
There are tennis courts, a floating swimming pier and change rooms for your use and the beach has a lifeguard on duty during the summer months.
The lake is good fishing for Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout. The lake is stalked on a regular basis and with the new fishing pier, it’s a great little lake to fish in. I spent a few moments chatting to a gentleman who was fishing from the pier, he had a very nice rainbow trout ready for the pan and as we chatted, he hooked into a nice size cutthroat trout that was over a kilo, nice fish, he said this is how it always is here, nice.
Not often can you find such an accessible lake that is great for swimming, boating and beach fun that is also full of such nice size fish that can be caught from the comfort of a small fishing wharf. It’s a pretty little lake that is well worth the time spent here, I like stopping here just for a break on my way down island.
