Desolation Sound Resort

Desolation Sound Resort is such a pretty place, on the shore of desolation sound, about 5 km from Lund. The cabins ( did I say cabins, more like mansions) are well-built and looked after. They are surrounded by wilderness.

My wife and I stayed here for 3 days on a delayed honeymoon.  When I say delayed, I mean 20 years after we were married. There was a radio contest to win a honeymoon here, we entered and we won. we had such a great time. We finally had a honeymoon.

The resort is right on the edge of the desolation marine park. This park is a paradise where boaters have over 8400 acres of hidden coves and wild tree-covered shorelines to cruise in. It’s the largest marine park in BC.

There are 3 good anchorages in the park,  they are  Tenedo’s Bay, Prideaux Haven, and Grace Harbour. There are many other anchorage locations in the park though. You can kayak for days, camping wilderness style as you stop each night. The warm waters in the park are ideal for swimming,  scuba diving, and fishing, and there are many ways to arrive on foot to enjoy wilderness camping. There are many other opportunities for camping here if kayaking I suggest you visit the Klahoose Resort, you will not regret it.

Desolation Sound is located within the traditional territories of the Tla’amin, Hamalco, and Klahoose First Nations. They have occupied the Desolation Sound area for thousands of years. This has always been a place to harvest food and medicines, please respect this as you visit the sound.

Captain George Vancouver first sailed these waters in 1792. Seeing the land and seascape so remote and forbidding, he was inspired to name it Desolation Sound. The park was created in 1973 and continues to be a popular destination in the marine park system.
