The Filberg Heritage Lodge & Park is located in the community of Comox, BC in the Comox Valley on Vancouver Island, Canada. The park is spread out over 9 acres and includes incredible trails, beautiful ponds, a pretty creek, traditional totem pole, herb and flower gardens, a great little tea house and a lodge.

The lodge was originally the home of R.J. Filberg and his family. They were one of the pioneer families who established themselves in the Comox Valley region, they were involved in the logging and forestry industry from around 1929. The family took up permanent residence here in 1939.

The grounds of the park are amazing, there are many gardens filled with a variety of annuals, perennials, herb beds and beautiful rhododendrons along with grassy open places all surrounded by some incredible old trees. My wife and i always enjoy walking around on the various paths and enjoying the garden beds, we have seen deer and rabbits on the grounds as well. The park is looked after by a group of volunteers.

One of the paths takes you to a traditional totem pole. my family was involved in the raising this pole. My uncle George was instrumental in this pole being here and was the man in charge in the ceremony when we raised it. This pole is a wonderful pole to see. its name is Tla Wa Sints Guy U Las and has figures in its carvings, the Thunderbird, a whale, a bear, and a sunman.

The park is used as an event center, its a great place for all kinds of events, i could not think of a better place to get married. Another use is fundraisers and lets not forget the filberg festival.

The filberg festival was established to promote all forms arts and crafts and to assist in the sale of these arts and crafts while promoting the artists.  Each event has a well established artist who sets up in the lodge. All artists are juried for the event guaranteeing that the arts and crafts are incredible. A small army of 300 volunteers work to make this event unforgettable.
