You reach the Adam River Potholes by taking the old Adam River Main (the one that goes to the old sort). There is a small road that looks overgrown, marked with blue ribbons, but it opens up right away. You take this road until you see three culverts stored on the side of the road. Park here and walk back a few metres till you see a path. This will take you partway, until it just kind of peters out. It’s pretty easy bushwacking for the most part, although there are a few cliffs to get around near the river.

The Adam River Potholes is a pretty cool place to hike; waterfalls and potholes are easily reached by those who understand what bushwacking is. You can often see wildlife. Many birds nest in the area, allowing you to see them throughout the spring and summer. Every time I have been here, I have seen black bears, blacktail deer, herds of elk, and smaller animals like otters, pine martens, and raccoons are also quite numerous. On more than one occasion, I have seen cougars along this river.. So if you are heading to this river, bring your camera gear and expect to be wildly amazed. It is a beautiful river.

This path will help you reach both the Adam River Potholes and the Adam River Falls with its most awesome pool below the gorge. It was a bit of a scramble down into this area, using ropes where they were installed. After reaching the shore of this huge pool, we found quite a few large logs that required us to climb over some and crawl under others to reach an area of rocky bluffs on the outer edge of the pool. This shows just how wild the river can get during the rainy season.
Please respect these forests and leave them just as you found them.
