Visit Gordon Bay Park, where great family camping and fishing await you on the shores of Lake Cowichan. The park is north of Duncan on south Vancouver Island. There are many campsites for you to camp in and a wonderful beach area. During the summer months, the lake is warm and inviting, with great beaches and great picnic and camping opportunities. The Lake Cowichan area boasts the highest average annual temperature in Canada.

The lake is great for fishing, you can latch onto some real big fish here, fish that fight hard and quite often don’t make it to the boat. There are monster rainbow trout here plus cutthroats and dollies and perhaps a few giant brown trout. Fishing is a pleasure you won’t easily forget. The lake is also well-used for water skiing, windsurfing, kayaking, and canoeing, a canoe is a great way to glide around the various estuaries and hidden bays.

There are quite a few hiking and biking trails located in this small park with unparalleled views. Hikers can see a variety of wildlife and birds, including juncos, stellar jays, chestnut-backed chickadees, common mergansers, and plenty of ducks. During the spring months, the park has an amazing display of wildflowers that will simply take your breath away, the best time to see the display is in the months of April through June, this is a sight not to be missed.

The park has flush toilets and showers that are wheelchair accessible. There is a wonderful play park for the little ones and great sandy beaches for them to play in the water. There are fees for camping from March 15th to October 31st, but during the off-season, you can camp in the boat launch area for free, there are no services offered during the off-season.
