Access to the lake is right at the picnic area off of Highway 28, approximately 30 km (18.6 miles) southwest of Campbell River on Vancouver Island. The picnic site pullout is right at the lake.

Although no campsites are provided, wilderness camping is permitted. A car-top boat launch is available. The best fishing for the abundant cutthroat trout is from April to June and September to October. Beavertail and gooseneck lakes along with reginald lake all provide excellent fishing for cutthroat and rainbow trout and are all quite close. dolly varden and kokanee are both resident species.

This lake does not look like it could have very big fish in it, but there have been some real lunkers pulled from it. The birdlife around this lake is quite spectacular so bring your camera. There is lots of wildlife here to see, you could see bears, elk, deer, martens, raccoons and there are great opportunities to photograph insects.
