Whether you are here to visit our parks or view our numerous waterfalls, hike on our mountain trails,  hunt for edible mushrooms & plants, go on bear & whale tours, or kayak with the seals, the island has the adventure you are looking for. Given our many spectacular rivers, lakes, valleys, mountains,  inlets, and bays, along with our small population, you can see why so many outdoor enthusiasts choose to come back again and again! Hope you enjoy your visit.

  1. Hi bud, I’m looking to lead a hike in the jervis inlet specifically the deserted river area. I’ve been having trouble finding adequate trail maps. I was hoping you might be able to point me in the right direction. Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks, Nick

    1. I don’t have very much info on deserted river watershed. There is an old road, most likely well overgrown, that runs up Tsuahdi creek, it starts at the mouth of deserted river. This old road will take up to a lake (do not know the name, that has an old trestle that runs across the middle of lake, a road was put in at some time to bypass this old trestle. The road up to lake looks like its on fairly flat land but from the lake it goes up into steep cliffs. That is about the extent of my knowledge about this river watershed, hope this helps you somewhat. If you do get into this area, a few photos and info would be awesome for gohiking.ca. Would love to hear your story. There was a village in deserted bay that was abandoned in the recent past due to grizzly bear attacks.

      1. Hi Bud. Hoping to come up to Stewart Lake on a Saturday through Tuesday. Not many sites here. Is it usually very busy? Thanks so much.

        1. As you say, it is a small site, its always first come first serve, you just need to take a chance this time of year.

  2. Hello Bud, I just stumbled upon your website while looking for Firefly resources in BC. Do you know if there’s a contact/organization we should be reporting sightings to? I’m down by Port Coquitlam and saw some being scooped up by hungry bats at the DeBoville Slough Trailhead tonight.

  3. Hey Bud,

Sorry to hear of your setback. I sent you a few pennies. Wondering if you have any semi recent updates on road access to the Ash River trail and Oshinow lake (ie closed gates). Take er easy. Tim

  4. Love the website! Love your art too! I am working on an eco landscaping business and your native plants list is the best i’ve found. Thank you

  5. Thank you Bud, I just discovered your website and am so appreciative. Wishing you the best in all your challenges.

    Michele

  6. Hello Bud,

Just wanted to ask about the correct e-mail for donating – on your site it says direct deposit to ‘askbud@ymail.com’, is that meant to say gmail?

Thank you so much for this site. it’s been a great resource for the kids I teach, and for my own interests in the local flora and fauna. I hope recovery goes smoothly!
