The Goose Lake to Twin Lake Trail is pretty awesome. In the early 80s, I was employed by the BC Forest Service as an initial attack team member, during the wetter months we would do various jobs, jobs like slash burns, rec site improvements, and silver culture projects.
One winter, a team was put together to create the trail portages along the canoe route. I was involved in this project that took us over 2 months to complete. We had a ground crew that worked on trails accessible by road and a water crew that worked on the trails between lakes that no other way to reach them. I was with the water team. I was a very avid canoeist and took to this project with enthusiasm.

One of the trails that we worked on was the Goose Lake to Twin Lake route. The trail starts at the seagull bay rec site on Goose Lake and takes you to the portage of Twin Lake and onto the Twin Lake campground on the north shore of the lake and the Mohun Lake Road. From here, the trail is across the road where it heads down to Amor Lake through a beautiful forest.

I recently walked the Twin Lake Trail and was excited to see the improvements made to our original trail. There are places where the trail was moved to avoid wet sections, and the trail we built is still in evidence. This is such a nice trail to just take a walk on. The forest is beautiful, and the bird life is awesome. The rec site at Seagull Bay is pretty cool with a few spots to camp and a nice wharf.

There is a road just south of the new two-way on the Sayward highway, It is a bit rough at the end and should only be driven in trucks with good clearance. Just before this section, there is a pull-out where you can park and walk a short distance to the trailhead. It’s worth the walk as very few people except those travelling by canoe on the route ever go here.
