Twaddle Lake

Twaddle Lake is located about halfway between Sayward and Gold River. This road is only usable for a few months of the year; the rest of the time it is snowbound and impassable. It’s a pretty cool shortcut to the other side and has some amazing sights to see. One of my favourite stops on this road is Twaddle Lake. A jewel in the mountains.

At one time, Twaddle Lake was a nice spot to camp but after a big wind storm blew several big trees over, it just went to shit as far as camping goes. Quads have rutted up the place, but they did cut a path through the trees to get to the lake. Still a nice spot to stop and hang out at the lake, have a fire and perhaps cast a rod to see if the fish are biting.

Another good reason to stop is to see the high country mushrooms that are popping up everywhere, so many shapes and colours. It’s hard to explain the directions to this lake, so from the Sayward side, drive past the white River Park and go until you cross the river on the new bridge, turn left and follow the blue dots.
