Crane Lake Trail is accessed from several directions; you can join it from the Mohun Creek Trail or the Morton Lake Trail. Or from a short drive up a logging road from the Island highway. The trail rides an old rail grade. To reach it from the Mohun Creek Trail, start at the Menzies Mainline, right where the creek crosses under the road. The trail begins on the right side of the creek. After passing numerous incredible waterfalls, you will come out on the Mary Lake road. Follow this until you come to a split in the road.

Turn left here and follow the old road until you come to a log crossing the creek. Here, you can either cross over and follow the trail on the opposite side of the creek.  Or you can back up a few meters, where there is a quad trail that goes right. Now, either the creek trail or the quad trail will take you to another log crossing.

If you cross the log from the quad side, it will lead to Morton Lake, if you continue on the quad trail, you will eventually reach a logging road that cuts across the trail, this road if followed to the left takes you out to the road to sayward, or you can come in from the sayward road and access the trail to crane lake or to either Morton lake or the mohun creek trail. Crane Lake Trail is a beautiful trail that hardly anyone uses.

This is such a great place to hike around in. There are many waterfalls and beaver ponds that you go by, and plenty of wildlife to see and photograph. I have hiked the whole area over the past year.
