Brown River Falls

The brown river falls are pretty nice to see. It’s a very easy trail until the end, then it’s a bit of a scramble down a small river bank using ropes as guides. To reach these falls, just head up Percy Road from Courtenay. Then just before you reach the turn at the forbidden plateau road that will take you to both nymph falls, and the medicine bowls you will see the Wildwoods forest trail. It’s where the power transmission lines cross the road.

If you look across the road from the Wildwoods Trail, you will see a gated road that runs under the power lines. Follow this road until you see a well-defined trail that leads right. This trail will take you through a wonderful forest that is between the power lines and the river. The trail is pretty nice all by itself, but then you reach the falls. These are a pretty nice set of falls in the summer, but it’s best to see them in the fall after a good rain.

You can see all sorts of life here, bears, deer, pine martins, raccoons, and a great variety of birdlife. So bring your camera and have some fun.

There are two falls of note on this river, this is the lower falls, you will find the medicine bowl falls further up the river and they are quite spectacular.
