Frost Lake is reached via the Rona road that crosses the Nimpkish River just below the town of Woss. If you drive through Woss and cross the Nimpkish River, you will see the Rona Cutoff road, turn left and follow this road. After a few km, you will see a pullout on the right that takes you down to the lake. There is a place to camp here. The lake is small but very pretty.
Across the Rona Road and quite close to the Frost Lake turn, you will find an old road that takes you down to the Nimpkish River. There used to be a crossing here by a bridge. This has been removed. This is a wonderful place to watch the salmon as they head upriver, with many jumpers. There is a huge pool with a chokepoint of rock and bluffs above this. Here you will see the cement pillars that held up the bridge. This is a beautiful spot and within walking distance of your campsite at Frost Lake.

There is an abundance of wildlife to see around Frost Lake. There is a good chance that you will see Roosevelt Elk and Black Bears. You can also see Pine Martens, Raccoons and plenty of deer. The trees are full of birds, and their songs are incredible. I have always enjoyed stopping by this lake, and quite often we will go down to see the Nimpkish River during the salmon runs, watching them leap as they head up is always a great sight. All in all, this is a wonderful section of north Vancouver Island, so full of wildlife and train logging history. The next time you are in the area, you really need to check Frost Lake out.
