(Micranthes integrifolia)

Wholeleaf Saxifrage is a species of flowering plant that can be found in many places including Southern Vancouver Island. Its latin name is Micranthes intergrifolia. It is a native plant from British Columbia to California. You will find it growing in moist locations such as meadows, grassy bluffs and trail sides. The flower in the above photo was shot in the Harewood Meadows in Nanaimo.
This Saxifrage is a perennial herb that grows from a root system of rhizomes. The plant grows from a basal rosette of leaves that are 7 -8 centimetres long. The white petaled flowers bloom from a long hairy stem that is up to 35 centimetres tall.
