The Brewster Lake Falls are just across the bridge that runs across the lake at the narrows, right after you cross the bridge turn right and go about 100 meters to where you will cross the creek, just below the falls. This waterfall is fed by a man made stream ( diversion) that brings water from the Salmon River into Brewster Lake where it eventually flows into lower Campbell to boost water levels in the lake. The Campbell Lakes, upper and lower, and the John Hart Lake are all man made reservoirs for power production by BC hydro.
This is quite a journey for the water to take, at one point it crosses another stream by a bridge that was constructed to take the diversion stream across the little valley and river below. Its quite a sight seeing one river cross another river on a bridge.
Just above the falls the water is calm, the stream is only a couple meters across here but very, very deep, maybe up to 20 meters. When the water levels are low enough to allow you to reach the edge, you can pull some amazingly large trout out of here. Further up, the reservoir is, for the most part, constructed out of cement.
You can see black bears, elk, cougars, wolves, deer, river otters, raccoons and a variety of birds along the creek, so bring your camera when you come here.
To reach the Brewster Lake Falls, Drive towards sayward from Campbell River until you come to the menzies bay mainline logging rd, drive up the road for about 20 miles until you see Brewster lake, turn right as soon as you cross the bridge and you will see the falls.
