The Nomash River begins its journey on the slopes of Mount Maquinna in the Haithe Mountain Range. The Haithe Range has many peaks that are attractive to mountaineers from around the world.
As the river flows down the Nomash Valley, it increases its flow volume from every creek it picks up. When it reaches the Zeballos River, it more than doubles its size. The river is only about 8km long, but it has such beauty to it.

You could easily see black bears, deer, wolves and a variety of smaller animals and birds on the shores of this river, but there is another wonderful secret contained within this river, just up from its junction with the Zeballos River. This is cave country, and you can find many in the area, but you can only find one water cave. The Wet Dream Cave is almost hidden from sight, just under the water of the Nomash River.

By 2014, the Wet Dream Cave had been pushed to 1168 meters deep, but I have heard it has been pushed deeper since then. This is a world-renowned cave system, and it’s not for amateurs. This is a dangerous cave. The best way for most of us to see this cave is by viewing one of the videos put up by cave divers.
To reach the Nomash River, head north from Campbell River to the Zeballos turnoff. Then head west on the logging road for 30km before turning off onto Nomash Main logging road. If you follow the Nomash Mainline until you reach the deactivated bridge, you can follow old roads to reach the Nomash Slab. The slab is visited by many mountaineers from around the world who come for the climbing opportunities found here.
